PlantGreat Lakes Copper Ltd. started out as the Canadian extension of Wolverine Tube, Inc. based out of Detroit, MI to service the fledging plumbing tube market across Canada. The London, Ontario branch commence Great Lakes Copper Ltd. d operations on April 21, 1958 and quickly established itself as the leading manufacturer and supplier of copper plumbing tube across Canada.

The company expanded with the acquisition of the assets from Noranda Metal in 1998, increasing its presence country-wide to include a sister plant operating out of Montreal, Quebec.

In July of 2008, Canadian private investors purchased Great Lakes Copper Inc. (formerly Wolverine Tube, Inc.). The purchase would present two unique opportunities. Firstly, the company would now go into private ownership. This would allow for independent investment to optimize and modernize the facility thereby actualizing its growth potential. Secondly, the Canadian operations of Wolverine Tube, Inc. would now become separate entities from its former US owners, allowing for financial realigning and strategic market target.

On October 31st 2008, Wolverine Canada purchased all the assets from the Kamco Division of Granby Industries Limited Partnership. The assets of Kamco were moved into our London facility. Kamco is known as a leader in coated copper tube products and represented an excellent expansion opportunity for Great Lakes Copper Inc. into a niche, value-added segment, which is all part of our strategy for future growth.

At the 2010 Toronto CMX show, the company announced our new company name: Great Lakes Copper Inc. represents a new beginning and a new commitment to our customers moving forward.

The 2010 ASHRAE show, we introduced yet another new initiative from Great Lakes Copper Inc. as we unveiled our new EZ-Roll Line Set product line. As we expand our product offering, we provide our customers with more advantages as we strive to become a ‘one-stop shop’.
